I really appreciate this site and what you are trying to do. As a recent graduate of Stanford and the Track and Field program I have several of my own frustrations with the current state of affairs, however, no issue is more infuriating to me than this one with Coach Weir. During the last five years I have come to appreciate him greatly for what he does for the team, but also for how he treated me. I have many fond memories of Robert and have known him since day one when he picked me up at the airport for cross country training camp freshman year. I was then awestruck when he proceeded to eat two entrees at dinner that night. I really appreciate the many kind words and encouragement Robert gave me over the years. I will never forget the excitement in his voice when he shook my hand and congratulated me after big races. Also, I’ll always appreciate the extra time he took to check in with us and stay up to date with the distance runners while he was head coach. In addition to his personality and interpersonal relationships, Robert was an excellent coach and a true cornerstone of our program throughout all the changes and upheaval while I was there. On the merits of his coaching alone it is a grave mistake should he be let go.
