I have known Robert for over 25 years as a competitor and a friend. I was very happy when he got the job here at Stanford in the 90s. I was still training at the time and really appreciated his support. Robert is the only throws Coach in this country that has international connections as an athlete and as a respected coach. His yearly travel around the world as a throws coach for USA national team keeps him up-to-date with new training methods and ideas. The loss to the athletes and the University will be felt for years to come. Its very disappointing to see.
